The village of Pokhara, nestled in the shadows of the Annapurnas, was the site of the most recent speech therapy camp run by the surgical outreach center in Nepal. The camps are held in remote sites and are evidence of Interplast's ongoing efforts to provide post-surgical services as part of a fully integrated medical program.
In early April, dozens of patients (who had had had their palate repairs performed by Interplast) and their families attended the week-long camp, which was held at Pokhara's Western Regional Hospital Training Hall. They were seen by an array of specialists including a plastic surgeon, craniomaxillofacial surgeon, a plastic surgery resident, a dental surgeon, speech pathologists and speech therapy assistants and trainees.
