Hi Alan, Richard, Robert, Ann, Rowan, Janice, Mary, Mary Ann, Dawn, Gary, Tue Thu, Susan, Russell, Sara, Carol, Joe.
This is LeHa. First, I hope by now everyone has returned home safe and sound. (Bob, you have completely recovered, haven't you? And Dawn, you had a good time in Ha Noi with your husband, didn't you? And Richard, you are sure that you do not forget anything in Hong Kong?) Myself, I am still somewhat jetlagged, but doing better than I had expected.
I want to take this opportunity to say you were a great group to work with and to thank you all for such a wonderful memory. As you know, My Tho was my first Interplast volunteer trip. You had shown me through your dedication, professionalism and most important of all your compassion, what is truly means to volunteer to help others. For this, I must thank Interplast for giving me the most meaningful and memorable two weeks in My Tho.
I also want to express my gratitude to the Vietnamese doctors and nurses who had, despite their limited resources and language capaplity, shown me that it is possible to face up to insurmountable challenges with a smile and a winning attitude if you beleive in your heart that it can be done.
Finally I wish to thank all the patients and their families for showing me the true meaning of courage. Nine days of being in your presence - andwatching in awe your undiminished fighting spirit - has instilled in me the deepest respect for you and redefined for me the concept of humanity.
In the words of Bob Dylan, may your hearts stay forever young.
Love, Peace and Good Karma
